Indeed's design-market data (through Q3 2023) showed UK tech hiring pulling back from pandemic highs, with UX research holding up better than UI-only roles — old data, but a useful baseline before you draw conclusions from a quiet month.

This data's a couple of years old now, so don't treat it as current market truth — but it's a real, dated reference point: UK tech hiring cooled from 2021-22 peaks, and roles blending research with design skills fared better than pure UI roles. If you're job hunting now, that's a reason to build some research literacy alongside your UI craft, not a reason to panic about a slow week. No one can promise you a role from reading a trend report — but knowing the shape of the market helps you frame your portfolio smarter.
