The Penpot Exporter plugin for Figma had a June 2026 update adding FigJam support and faster image handling. It's a sign the Figma-to-Penpot migration path keeps maturing.
The Penpot Exporter, a Figma Community plugin built with Runroom, reached version 48 on 29 June 2026 (figma.com/community). The update adds support for exporting FigJam stickies and connectors as editable Penpot shapes, speeds up image-heavy exports, and lowers peak memory use. Users can now also choose to export a single page instead of a whole file.
You don't need to switch tools to care about this. Having Figma and Penpot both in your stack already puts you ahead — plenty of teams (especially public sector and smaller agencies in the UK) are evaluating Penpot for licensing or open-source reasons. Knowing the migration tooling exists, and where it still breaks, is a useful thing to mention in an interview.
